Every Project Starts with Proper Design

These are not separate services — they are all part of what a building designer does. Whatever the project type, the design process is the same: understand the brief, assess the site, and produce a complete set of construction documents.

Not every project is a full custom home or a major renovation. Sometimes you need design documentation for a specific part of your home — a bathroom upgrade, a new outdoor area, a garage conversion, or an internal layout change. These projects still require proper plans, especially when structural work, plumbing relocations, or building approvals are involved.

As a dual-licensed builder and building designer, I bring the same level of detail and construction knowledge to every project, regardless of size. But extensions need careful design to ensure they integrate with the existing structure, meet current building standards, and do not create problems with site coverage, setbacks, or overlooking. My construction experience is particularly valuable for extensions. I assess the existing structure to determine what can be retained, what needs to be modified, and how the new work ties in structurally. Roof connections, floor level transitions, and the junction between old and new construction are all detailed in the documentation so your builder can execute the work cleanly.

Each one starts with understanding the existing site, the construction constraints, and the outcome the client needs before drawings are prepared.
