Design Science is a Gold Coast building design practice working from bases at Palm Beach and Warwick, servicing the Gold Coast as its primary market along with Brisbane, Toowoomba, the Southern Downs and Northern NSW. We visit clients on site. We prepare design documentation for homes, renovations, extensions and selected commercial projects, with local rules, overlays, site conditions, buildability and budget considered from the start.

Design Science provides residential and commercial building design from two bases: Palm Beach on the Gold Coast, and Warwick on the Southern Downs. That footprint lets us service the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Toowoomba, the Southern Downs and Northern NSW with genuine local knowledge — not fly-in design work.

Every region we work in has its own rules and conditions. Gold Coast and Brisbane projects are shaped by their councils’ planning schemes, overlays and setback requirements. Coastal blocks carry different wind classifications than the Downs. Flood, bushfire and steep-land overlays change what’s buildable street by street. Because Design Science is led by David Steadman — who holds both a QBCC Building Designer and Builder licence, a combination fewer than 1% of professionals in Australia hold — our designs account for those local realities and how they affect buildability and cost from the first sketch.

Design Science does not issue approvals or act as council or certifier. Initial consultations are $280, payable before the appointment. If you proceed with design, that amount is credited in full to your design fees.
